a dark-eyed girl gave me this book last week. wrote a dedication on the inside cover in red needle-point pen while we drank cups of just-north-of-burnt coffee and lamented the winter piling up outside like all the unread journal articles we’d been assigned. she amended her name - your darling girlfriend. a joke. but i liked it. but i really really liked it. because i believed it.
oh, the book is really good too.
i wish i would have written down every important moment this song scored in my mid-adolescence. i also kinda wish i didn’t listen to those older, cooler kids when they told me i needed to grow out of listening to this kind of music…nonguilty-guilty-pleasure.
